January 2016 - A Time For Transformation

Happy New Year!

We hope you all enjoyed the holidays with your families and friends. We’re really excited about 2016 but first we want to thank everyone who came out to our Client Appreciation party. It was a pleasure celebrating all the hard work and dedication that all of our clients have achieved through out the years. We appreciate each and every one of you.

A quick recap of what took place at the party:
We acknowledged each “Client of the Month” for 2015 and years past; we danced, ate and had a few cocktails. But our favorite part of the night was acknowledging the contestants of the 6-week transformation contest and announcing the winners.
6-Week Transformation Contest - 1st Place Winner


For the 6-week transformation contest, we had 14 clients sign up for the challenge. Of those 14, 7 clients completed the 12 weeks. Collectively those 7 lost 65 pounds and 72 inches! We had 3 winners:
  • Dave, our 2nd place winner, lost 17 pounds and 11.5 inches. (Dave kept working hard at his transformation, please read his story in our Client of the Month feature!)
  • Kelly, our 3rd place winner, lost 13.1 pounds and 14 inches. 
  • Michelle, our 1st place winner, lost a total of 14 pounds and 14.5 inches.

Dave - 2nd Place Winner (Bodies By Bristol 6-Week Transformation Contest)The judging process of the transformation contest uses a point system that reviews 3 areas. First, we look at the transformation noticed in the BEFORE and AFTER photos.  Second, we look at the inches and fat lost in the girth measurements and fat assessment and finally we review the total pounds lost. While it was a close transformation contest, we are pleased to say that every participant has made a considerable transformation. That’s really what it is all about. Although winning a nice lump of cash is great, the real reward is setting a goal for yourself and seeing the transformation take place each week.

We have launched a 12-week transformation contest that will take us right into spring. January 9th until February 9th.

Bodies By Bristol's Client of the Month
I have been training at Bodies by Bristol for a number of years now. This past August I decided to take my training a bit more serious. I spoke to Bristol and we put some realistic goals in place. I followed his nutrition plan and began training 5 days a week with him. With his guidance I have lost 45 pounds and counting!

I am a firm believer if you follow his program you can achieve your fitness goals.

Bodies by Bristol is unlike any other gyms I have belonged to, he takes personal pride in seeing his clients succeed, in addition it has allowed me to make new friends! I look forward to continuing to set new goals and achieve each milestone that he challenges me with.

10 Steps for a Successful 2016
10. Write down your goals.
Don't just say them - WRITE them down. Put them in front of where you will see them daily.   Set SMART Goals :: Specific, Measurable, Action You will Take, Realistic AND Timely

10a. Share your goals! 
Make yourself accountable - Tell people about what you want to do.

9. Get proper sleep. 
Make a non-negotiable time to get to bed. Have kids? (sure, we get it - so have a plan B.) Know when you make that sleep up. Get to bed earlier than normal the next day? Our point- is make it a priority to get proper sleep.

8. Drink your water. 
Aim for half your body weight in ounces - up to 1 gallon per day.

7. Cut out your sugar.
Aim for 25-35 grams of ADDED sugar in your daily nutrition.

6. Plan out your meals.
Take some time on Sunday to look at your week ahead. Consider everyone activities and plan out wha you will have each night.

5. Take some time to cook in bulk Sunday and Wednesday. 
You can cook ahead soups, brown rice, oatmeal, tuna and package up in ready-to-go containers.

4.  Take your Before pictures! 
It may not be enjoyable but when you look back and see the changes you will be really inspired and even more motivated. (Anther reason to sign up for our transformation challenge! We take the pictures for you.)

3. Plan your workouts.
What days will you workout at the gym and what days will you do cardio on your own? While planning out your meal - you an also jot down the times you plan to workout. Make an appointment with yourself and also have a Plan B if Plan A fails.

2. Know your target heart rate and get in it. 
While doing cardio make sure the time spent is efficient by staying in your target heart rate zone.

1. Be positive and consistent!
Any step in the right direction IS a step in the right direction and you will gain momentum with consistency. Give your body time to respond and be patient. Results will come if you are eating clean in right proportions, exercising consistently
